Things to do for October 09, 2014
Banh Mi, Jackets and Whiskey
Weekends come in threes.
Vietnamese Sandwiches for Dinner
Whether or not you had plans to eat Vietnamese on Friday... now you have plans to eat Vietnamese on Friday. Grand Central Market is really going for it, with stuff like Horse Thief’s pork belly banh mi, duck banh mi at Belcampo and banh mi omelets at Eggslut. Banh mi omelets.
Uniqlo Exists Here Now
High-tech thermals, puffy jackets and cashmere sweaters—those are the kinds of well-fitting things you’ll find at Beverly Center’s new edgy little Japanese boutique, Uniqlo.
Everyone’s a James Beard Winner Here
This one’s easy: great chefs from Republique, Alma, Mozza, Animal and Bestia (to name a few) want to cook for you and a date on Friday at a huge reception and dinner for the James Beard Foundation. They really should have an award for these guys.
A Gin-Vodka-Whiskey Tour
If you know somebody who insists on knowing exactly where his whiskey comes from, take them on an hour-long tour of Greenbar Distillery. They make stuff like rum, vodka, gin, whiskey and tequila. And they do it right in Downtown. So that’s where it comes from.
What NASA’s Got to Do with Your Shirt
NASA technology has done a lot of important stuff. Like help improve your Ministry of Supply dress shirt. (It’ll keep you cooler in the heat and warmer in the cold.) They’ll be at Liberty Fairs for two weeks. It’s one small shirt for a man... unless you’re a different size.
