Things to do for September 25, 2014
Slimer, Frogger and Horchata Shakes
The weekend the NL West was won.
Have Some Beerchata at the Oinkster
Hard to believe the holidays are here already. The made-up ones, anyway. To properly celebrate Oinktoberfiesta, the Oinkster has lined up a day of horchata shakes, beerchata, bacon-wrapped Polish sausages and live mariachis. Best Oinktoberfiesta yet.
Your Fried Chicken and Frogger Hookup
A funky new brick-walled lounge full of ’80s video games opens Friday. There will be Dig Dug, Pac-Mans Junior through Super, cocktails and Cap’n Crunch fried chicken. You should be able to get a high score in one of those.
Some New Waffle Cone Tech
Fried chicken and waffle cones. Those exist now. That’s all.
Oh, you’re interested? Well, you’ll find them being served Saturday night at Carb & Nation, a food new truck from two Church & State vets setting up in Glassell Park. And yes, fried chicken. In a waffle cone.
Don’t Cross the Streams
In our country’s recent history, phantom librarians and hotel Slimers were serious national issues. Saturday at Helms Bakery, you’ll learn how everybody united to overcome these obstacles using proton packs and Rick Moranis love scenes.
Your New Cheeseburger Hub
Joan’s on Third is now open in Studio City. And Monday, it unleashes its secret weapon: cheeseburgers. They won’t be on the menu. But they will be served weekdays after 3pm. So now’s the time to book that “dentist appointment” that gets you out of work early.
