Things to do for September 05, 2014
Gin Punch, Cigars and Dancing with Pandas
Rollin’ with the weekend.
This Place Is a Bit Over-the-Top
Stuff you’ll find in the Gables’ new high-profile Italian saloon: gilded ceilings. Stately red leather armchairs. Negronis. Saffron-and-sausage risotto. Telemundo personalities. Hey, if it’s good enough for Telemundo...
DJ-spun music and gratis gin punch at the Bass Museum. Sounds like a Friday night plan if we’ve ever heard one. Oh, and yeah: art. They’re featuring a bunch of installations (like McDonald’s cups and cocktail carts) covered in gold. Go for the gold, so to speak.
Mojitos First. Then, the Pandas.
You’ll start with mojitos... at TK’s in the Grove. Because they’re putting out 20
different kinds (like coconut and chipotle) along with hand-rolled cigars.
And then it’s on to... Rec Room’s Pandamonium party. There, you’ll find yourself surrounded by stuffed pandas, consuming cocktails served by bartenders wearing panda suits and dancing with a special panda guest. Probably not Ling-Wong.
Allow us to toss some Beerfest-related stats at you...
Hours you’ll enjoy bottomless brew at the Clevelander before the Marlins play: 3
Number of breweries represented: over 30
Body-painted dancers gyrating around the pool: quite a few
Chances you’ll see Giancarlo Stanton hit a baseball a long way: > 99.9%
Desperado at Taperia Raca
Hey, new cinema night at Taperia Raca. This week they’re screening the seminal classic Desperado in their courtyard. Yes, Banderas was in fine form. But so are the Spanish nachos and salchipapas you’ll be snacking on.
