Things to do for August 07, 2014
Ribs, Shoes and 100 Bill Murray Masterpieces
Welcome to weekend lands.
Poke Bowls and Noodles at... Bloodhound
How to kill time if you’re a chef whose next restaurant isn’t open yet: take over a bar and make a bunch of Hawaiian-ish food (spicy noodles, yakitori, aloha dogs) for a few Thursdays. How to kill time if you’re you: go eat that food.
Lunch at Smokestack Is Real Now
Lunch in Dogpatch... the very thought conjures images of an empty road in some old ghost town, with a sad little tumbleweed rolling past. Oh, hey, Smokestack is happening starting at 11:30am now, and they’re not messing with the ribs-sausage-brisket formula. Because it’s a good formula.
A Few Masterpieces About Bill Murray
If you could, you’d devote every night to honoring Bill Murray. But as a matter of convenience, maybe just hit tomorrow’s Bill Murray–themed art show in the Mission, with DJs, a bunch of like-minded people dressed up like the man himself... and maybe a couple Scarlett Johanssons?
Good Shoes: 60% Off. Just So You Know.
Some people might’ve gone to the Gimme Shoes sale when it started. Ha. For the finale, everything that’s left—from the likes of Red Wing and Rag & Bone—is 60% off. As far as we know, there’s no twist ending.
One Year Ago, Mikkeller Was Born
Something special is happening at Mikkeller Bar SF on Saturday. There’s a new chipotle-pepper-spiked hot dog debuting—it’s called The Texas Ranger. Oh, also, it’s the bar’s first birthday. There’s a party happening with lots of rare beer. Not sure if the party’s for the birthday or the hot dog.
