It’s hard to remember the last time you had enchiladas and margaritas at La Rondalla. (2007. It closed in 2007.) Finally, it’s back, and it didn’t go changing into a gastronomic Mexiteque on you. But they did add in new stuff like carnitas. Okay, sure. Carnitas you’ll allow.
First, Ichi existed. Then it moved into its bigger, more beautiful digs. And only now, the crowning achievement: an hour every weekday involving $1 oysters, $6 wings and $4 Sapporos. That’s a good hour right there.
Previously, if you went to Trou Normand at 8am, you could... stand around outside watching Yelpers going to work. Now you can go inside and have a frittata with kale, leeks and parmesan, or sausage gravy and poached egg on ciabatta, with some Four Barrel coffee. Much better.
Summer’s coming. Kind of hard to believe. But apparently it’s a good time for carbonated cocktails on tap at Blackbird—think Pimm’s Cups, Palomas and bourbon-spiked New Orleans Coffees. Those make it easier to believe.
