Things to do for April 24, 2014
Tequila-Caviar Tacos and a Citywide Film Shoot
That’s some good weekend right here.
It’s Called the Ladies’ Gunboat Society
Tonight, Flores on Sawtelle morphs into the Ladies’ Gunboat Society, a temporary residency by the Hart and the Hunter chef Brian Dunsmoor. You’ll be there for his Southern food, like slow-smoked lamb ribs with Moroccan spices, chicken-fried rabbit and uni with radishes. So those are Southern now.
Tequila, Meet Caviar. Caviar, Tequila.
Tequila with some tacos: nothing wrong there. And yet: tonight, if you were to grab a table at Petrossian for a five-course menu of Mexican-inspired caviar dishes, served with five tequilas, you’d end up with a taco containing tequila-infused trout roe. If it ain’t broke... add tequila-infused trout roe.
It’s Party Time at General Quarters
It’s been three years since General Quarters built you a one-stop shop for cotton flannels, camouflage backpacks, leather baseballs and jeans. They want you there to celebrate that milestone with them with lots of beer on Saturday night. And you never miss leather baseball milestones.
Now You’re a TV Director...
On Saturday, One Day on Earth’s producers invite you (and every other Angeleno) to shoot a film about your daily life. It’ll then be uploaded into an online video archive and possibly used in a TV show about the future of American cities. Advice: stay method when pouring your cereal.
Messhall Goes Really, Really Austrian
You’ve made it through seven months of BierBeisl withdrawal. And now, a brief reprieve. The chef is reviving his Austrian restaurant at Messhall Kitchen for one night on Sunday, serving à la carte dishes like käsekrainer, wiener schnitzel and six other things that will be interesting to pronounce.
