Things to do for April 10, 2014
Donuts with Wine... Oysters and Cocktails...
The weekend paints world leaders in its spare time.
A Cuban Party for Your Head
Cuban jazz, Cuban hats, Cuba libres—all things you’d obviously find if you went to... Melrose. Tonight, Goorin Bros. is hosting a Havana-themed party for their new Cuban baseball and straw hats. Things you’ll want now that the sun is back.
Here’s Five Courses of Donuts and Wine
Well, here’s a five-course meal you probably haven’t had before—Glazed has a wine-paired series of chicken beignets and parmesan-garlic donut holes for you tonight. Whatever else you had planned probably didn’t involve five courses of donuts. So, sorry, other plans.
Black Hogg’s New Sandwich Division
Black Hogg just opened a Downtown banh mi place called HeroShop. It’s a source for all your blood sausage, BBQ pork and headcheese sandwich needs, and it also has fatty brisket rice bowls, Vietnamese iced coffee and chips. Gotta have chips with your headcheese.
Sexy Parked Cars at the Petersen
Well, the Petersen rounded up a random assortment of car aficionados like Francis Ford Coppola, James Hetfield and Patrick Dempsey, asked them which sports coupe they fantasize about owning, then put those cars on display. Either so you can go see those cars, or so they could taunt Dempsey.
An Oyster-and-Cocktail Nirvana
A shiny new oyster bar opens Monday afternoon. Nice. With a seafood-focused menu from two Tasting Kitchen/Parish vets. Great. And cocktails from a Varnish and La Descarga alum. Super. In Sherman Oaks... Well, you do go there occasionally.
