Things to do for December 12, 2013
Opening This Weekend: a Pub, a Hangover Hospital and an Italian Market
Catch you on the weekend side.
French Wine. Seafood. Miller Brothers.
Until alligator belts and Italian sport coats learn how to buy themselves, you still have some shopping to do. Well, common sense suggests you do it in the company of gratis French wines and passed shellfish at Miller Brothers’ open house tonight. The power of suggestion: strong to very strong.
Your Tiny New Italian Deli in VaHi
Ever since Toscano & Sons closed its Westside shop, you’ve been down one Italian market for stocking up on wine and midday deli sandwiches like the Manzo (roast beef, asiago, horseradish). So you’ll be pleased to know they relocated to Virginia Highland. Less pleased if you live on the Westside.
The Beatles. The Stones. The You.
Tomorrow night, you’re going to witness the Beatles compete against the Stones. Ish. See, 13 live acts will play songs from each band at the Loft. And a DJ will be remixing Stones and Beatles tracks in between. And... hopefully you like those two bands.
This New Pub Has Beer. Carry On.
In Kirkwood, a guy named Dano Kirk (well, that worked out) is mere days away from opening the doors to his new bi-level pub. It’s got chili cheeseburgers, a dozen draft beers (Monday Night, Jekyll Brewing...) and flat-screens everywhere you look. Maybe go watch sports there.
A Spa-Like Spot for Killing Hangovers
A local doctor is about to open one of those “We’ll give you IV-administered fluids to take away your hangover” places in Buckhead. So go there after a particularly ambitious holiday party. Have a Kaufmann’s Cocktail (magnesium, calcium, vitamins) injected into your arm. Follow that up with donuts.
