A Sacred Hall of Beer, Burgers and Sports

You’re still trying to forget the Lakers’ last season.

And the Dodgers... well, let’s not think about them either.

Let’s discuss a team that hasn’t let you down this year: beer and barbecue, still working together to keep the magic alive.

And now they’re doing it at Rivalry Sports Bar & Grill, your new pivot point for game watching in front of smoked-brisket sliders and 16 taps, opening this weekend on Wilshire.

It’s a massive spread of swanky mahogany and red brick in here, and you’ll find it after you’ve wandered in through the sidewalk patio. First: scan your 16 beer options at the stainless-steel-topped bar. Then stake out your territory at a four-top or one of the beer-hall-style communal tables—there’s not a bad seat in here, really, considering there’s 22 times the amount of 50-to-70-inch flat-screens you’d find in the average living room.

And yes, sliders happen. Wings, too. Obviously. They have “sports bar” in the name, so...

But they have a smoker here, and they’re pretty into it, so you’re getting smoked honey-habanero wings and smoked-brisket sliders with a whiskey-spiked BBQ sauce. Also: smoked-chicken nachos with IPA cheese.

The best kind of cheese.
