Things to do for May 09, 2013
Flappers, Pig Ears and Gin-Filled Olives
Ain’t got nothing but love, babe, eight days a weekend.
Elixirs and Empanadas in Downtown
So there’s this new Peruvian juice bar in Downtown. If you’re wondering what it takes to be a Peruvian juice bar, well, it takes Peruvian juice (like acai, lucuma and camu camu). Also, apparently, it takes empanadas and Panther coffee from Wynwood. But that’s obvious.
Four Courses of Whiskey at BLT
Whiskey. Just saying it makes you feel better about the day. Of course, instead of saying it, you could go to BLT tonight and have a four-course dinner that features it. Expect glazed pig ears and sweet-tea-marinated Muscovy duck paired up with things that come from a barrel. Whiskey, specifically.
Villa Azur’s going all Jay Gatsby tonight. They’re filling the place up with flappers, they’re bringing in a sax player, and they’re pouring a bunch of martinis. Go. Do the Charleston or something.
Who’s Hungry for Cocktails...
Hey, happy World Cocktail Week. We would’ve wished you that earlier, but, you know... we just found out it existed. Anyway, Doma Polo’s celebrating with some special drinks. The kind you eat. We’d suggest chewing on a caipirinha cup that’s filled with passion fruit foam and gin-jelly-stuffed Spanish olives. Way to make yourself useful, gin.
Concerts. You love everything about concerts. Except drum solos. And anytime the band plays “something from the new album.” But still, if it’s live music you want, try the Stage tomorrow. They’re hosting a party with a bunch of local bands and a two-for-one drink special. Your favorite.
