Tacos, Beer and the Terminator

The weekend is neither shaken nor stirred.

BOSS HOGG

Black Hogg Is Back. With Beer.

You might remember that newish Silver Lake joint, with all the blonde wood... and blondes, going to town on pork-belly tacos and lamb burgers. It opened. Then it closed. Now it’s back. This time, they’ve got beer and wine. Sometimes, just sometimes, a remake can outshine the original.

Now open (again), Black Hogg, 2852 W Sunset Blvd, Silver Lake, 323-953-2820

ALPHA BET

This Pop-Up Shop Feels Familiar...

Not so long ago, the late, great men’s shop Alpha closed. (Sad.) Then a cool furniture shop called Apt2B popped up in the space for a while. (Cool.) Now they’ve both taken over part of a women’s shop to bring you sofas, bow ties and gift-y gadgets. Something about the holidays coming up.

Saturday
Yoga and Beer at Golden Road Brewing
DOWNWARD-FACING BEER

Yoga and Beer at Golden Road Brewing

You go to a brewery. Think about a pint. And then settle into Warrior II pose. You’re not crazy. You just went to your favorite brewery for a yoga class. Golden Road is doing them on the lawn—and yes, they’ll give you a beer afterward. Nope, not crazy at all.

NO JUDGMENT

You, Subbing In for Schwarzenegger

Terminator 2—finally, somebody realized its potential as a stage play. Thankfully, it was the guys behind Point Break Live. This time around, they’ll pull somebody from the audience each night to play the good-this-time Terminator. Try to capture the subtle nuances of the original performance.

Sunday
Day Trip: An Off-Grid Wine Cavern
HAUS HUNTING

Day Trip: An Off-Grid Wine Cavern

Next time you’re in the mood for a quick day trip—Sunday ought to do it—point yourself toward the Westlake Village Inn, near Malibu. It’s on a private vineyard, and they just opened a new restaurant focused exclusively on coffee. Just kidding, it’s focused on wine. But they do have coffee.
