Amazing name. Even better headphones: Fanny Wang’s noise-isolating ’phones, on Perks for 28% off the going rate. Also, your next handsome tie, courtesy of NYC’s Graham Withers: 50 bucks. Finally, we’re giving you $50 toward grooming essentials from Kiehl’s and Molton Brown. Because we care, that’s why.
Things to do for August 23, 2012
There’ll Be Beer, Burlesque and Chris Bosh This Weekend
The weekend is in a glass case of emotion.
An Irish Bar Full of Burlesque Dancers
Should you find yourself at the Lucky Clover tomorrow, you’ll notice an intriguing development: burlesque dancers. See, Priscilla Jade (they make lacy things) is launching their new line of lingerie with a burlesque runway show in the middle of the bar. Which makes... not a ton of sense, but you’ll suspend disbelief when tassels are involved.
There’s art galleries, and there’s clubs. Not a whole lot in common. Until this Saturday. When LMNT throws a kaleidoscope dance party. Basically, every song played is choreographed to a different array of colors. Which sounds pretty cool... you know, unless you’re color blind.
Free Ice Cream from Chris Bosh
Chris Bosh. When he’s not playing in the NBA and dunking on people, he’s... working at the Frieze. Yup, this Sunday, in honor of the ice cream shop’s 25th anniversary, Bosh will be jumping behind the counter to hand out gratis scoops. Remember to say thank you. For the world championship.
Microbrews. Normally, you’d drink them. And be happy. But Lou’s Beer Garden has other ideas. Eating-your-beer kind of ideas. So this Sunday, they’re having 11 local chefs compete in a cook-off. The catch: one of the ingredients must be a microbrew. Oh, and you’re going to judge. Be impartial.
Getting Your Just Desserts at Ricochet
We’ll keep this one simple: drop $10 for entry to Ricochet on Wednesday and you’ll get to sample 20 vendors’ worth of cupcakes, cookies and liquor-infused desserts (to go with your liquor-infused scotch). Stick around for the live music later in the evening. Or seconds.
