Things to do for June 29, 2012
Celebrating America with Fireworks, Cold Beer and a Whole Hog
Four out of five dentists surveyed recommend the weekend.
Getting Dressed for the Fourth
Miller Brothers is having a summer sale. Up to 50% off. So if you’re barbecuing next week, grab a linen shirt. And if you’re planning on going sailing, a checkered sports jacket. And if you’re thinking about dressing up like a stilt-walking Uncle Sam on Wednesday, you’re in the wrong store.
A Vodka-Lemonade-Stocked Book Signing
Could you write a book on gentlemanly etiquette: sure. But you didn’t. A guy named Enitan Bereola II did. And he’s having a signing for it tomorrow at Hotel Indigo. There’ll be gratis vodka-cucumber-lemonade cocktails, an art gallery and a keyboard player. That Enitan Bereola II: all class.
A Ginormous BBQ and Beer Dinner
Before a big holiday, you should prepare. Especially when that holiday involves barbecue, and that preparation involves beer. And cornbread. And Brunswick stew. And banana pudding for dessert. Yes, the guys at Woodfire Grill are doing a three-course barbecue dinner a day before the Fourth. This year... freedom rings early.
Or if You’d Rather Pig and Oysters...
Muss & Turner’s got a new grill. And they’re going to test it out on Tuesday by tossing an entire pig inside, and a couple of oysters on top. Then, they’ll serve it all up alongside some coffee and molasses-smoked brisket. You = guinea pig.
A Rooftop for Watching Fireworks
A brisk rundown of your schedule for Wednesday at the Whiskey Blue... oh, right, we forgot, you’re going to the Whiskey Blue on Wednesday. 4pm: Head up to the rooftop. 5pm: Crowd around the half-dozen barbecues. Eat things. 9pm: Watch some unobstructed fireworks. 9:20pm: Start a “USA, USA” chant. 12:07am: End said chant.
