Things to do for June 28, 2012
Pool Ping-Pong, Cheez Whiz and Patriotic Barbecuing
O, say, can you see the weekend.
Tonight, you’re thirsty. And tomorrow, you’re summer-Friday-ing. So this evening, it’s local jazz and Wild Sides at Q Lounge. The music: brought to you by the folks at WDNA 88.9. The drink: well, its mezcal, vermouth and tobacco bitters. Remember to inhale.
You’re Invited to Dinner. In the 1950s.
The 1950s. A time of great progress (see: space exploration and Tang). Also, a time of great dinners. Case in point, the Federal: they’re holding a five-course, ’50s-inspired feast tonight. The menu: full of TV dinners... that are full of things like foie gras. And Cheez Whiz. Yup, feels like a Cheez Whiz night.
Good place to party this summer: at a pool. Better place to party this summer: at someone else’s pool. So head over to the Four Seasons this Saturday, where you’ll find butler-passed frozen pops, a taco bar and pool ping-pong. It’s like regular ping-pong, but chlorinated.
Here Come a Whole Lot of Massages
Lapis is celebrating Miami Spa Month starting Sunday and going through August (yeah, it’s one of those 62-day months) with $99 treatments. The best: the 50-minute Bamboo Fusion number that uses the stalk to stretch out muscles. The bonus: you’ll also get access to their eucalyptus steam room, elements rain tunnel, a co-ed jacuzzi and all nine outdoor pools. Excess can be so soothing.
A Fourth of July BBQ at the Delano
There are two ways to spend this Fourth of July: 1) with six hours of barbecue ribs, lobster, live music, bubbly and bowls of white-truffle ice cream, or 2) fantasizing about No. 1. The better option goes down this Wednesday at Bianca. Go. Make your country proud.
