We’re hooking you up with five hours in a private jet—anytime you’d like—with tickets to the final round of this year’s Masters. Plus, we’re sending you three pet jellyfish in an aquarium that doubles as an art installation and superb handmade leather belts from Taylor Stitch.
Things to do for March 22, 2012
Beer Cocktails, Car Racing and 24 Hours of Donuts
The weekend is getting an uncredited rewrite.
Usually, you go to a hotel lobby for drinks. Or, like, to get a room. But tonight you’ll go to the Palihouse lobby for shirts. There’s a pop-up sale happening with loot from the likes of Riviera Club at 50% to 75% off. Also, drinks.
Dixie Tavern Is Now Open
Some nights, you long for foie gras martinis under diamond chandeliers. Other nights, you’re in Sherman Oaks and you just need a stool, a cold beer and a burger with an egg on it. Say hello to the Dixie Tavern. It’s for the latter.
24 Hours of Free Donuts
At LACMA on Saturday, there’s a screening of a 24-hour film about clocks. (So LACMA.) Oh, and a 24-hour donut pop-up across the street in conjunction with the screening, stocked with everything from Randy’s to Fonuts. What donuts have to do with clocks is anyone’s guess, but hey, free donuts.
A “Class” with Beer and Fried Chicken
You may want to sign up for Public School 612’s Monday evening class. Reason being: it’s not really a class at all. You’ll get four beer cocktails—like a Beericano, with vermouth, Campari and IPA—paired with food like fried chicken on a stick. You almost majored in that.
Miniature Car Racing at Bigfoot Lodge
Starting this Tuesday and continuing on the last Tuesday of every month, Bigfoot Lodge is setting up a Boy Scout–style pinewood derby racetrack. Five bucks gets you a kit to build a little car, and five more gets you a tiny glass of milk. Just kidding, it gets you some whiskey.
