Just in time for New Year’s, we’re hooking you up with overnight caviar delivery and the magical recovery drink CodeBlue. And for 2012: we’re envisioning a five-course chef’s tasting dinner at Osaka, featuring the most inventive Peruvian-Japanese dishes you’ve ever devoured. Also: three cocktails.
Things to do for December 22, 2011
Beermosas, French Shirts and a Christmas Pizza Party
The weekend looks great in elf shoes.
Golden Road Brewing Pub Debuts
You already know about the massive Golden Road brewery in Atwater Village. Now you can stop into the super-casual pub next door to sample the twice-baked potatoes and meatballs made with pork, bacon and pancetta. And beer. They also have beer.
Half-Off Clothes at A.P.C.
If you aren’t gifted enough French-looking shirts, cords and nautical-striped sweaters this weekend, take matters into your own hands. Literally. Go into A.P.C., grab what you want and haul it to the register—almost everything is half off. Alternatively, there’s still time to buy for other people.
A Drink and a Smoke, Sort Of
About 1886’s new cocktails... it’s almost like you’re smoking them instead of drinking them. Try The Smoking Jacket, with whiskey, tobacco bitters and edible orange-vanilla ash. Or the Coffee & Cigarettes, a vodka-and-stout concoction served with an edible vanilla-paper cigarette in a metal ashtray. No lighter required.
A Christmas Pizza Party
Christmas. A time for family. And gifts. And, of course, sausage pizza. Osteria La Buca is throwing open their doors at 5pm on Sunday for a party devoted exclusively to pizza and booze. (To repeat: the menu is all pizza and booze.) Guess you made it onto the “nice” list.
Your Post-Christmas Hangover Brunch
We know what you’ll need come Monday: a big trash can for all that wrapping paper. Also: a bottomless brunch on a porch. The Hudson’s got a Hangover Burger (avocado, bacon, jalapeño cheddar, fried egg), plus endless mimosas or beermosas. Yes, OJ in your beer. For the vitamin C.
