Basketball on Alcatraz, Brunch and Trampolines
The weekend always looks out for #1.
You’re no stranger to whole-hog dinners, so this event should feel familiar, warm and happy. Once you arrive, the wine will flow, and a spread of chicharrones, smoked testa, porchetta, housemade sausages, and fig and bacon crostatas will appear. Your timing’s impeccable.
You crushed it in dodgeball, and the word “matrix” has taken on a new meaning since this trampoline house opened. In celebration of their one-year mark, come in for a parkour obstacle course, silent disco and 50-foot slackline. Jumping on trampolines, of course, is implied.
Many a man risked life and limb to get off Alcatraz. You, however, just want to shoot hoops there. This weekend, your basketball-playing prowess could earn you a spot in the worldwide, one-on-one basketball finals on the island—and possibly, the King of the Rock title. Nic Cage is going to be jealous.
Since you generally start the day with a caffeine jolt, this beer-paired brunch with caffeine-spiked beer kills two birds. There’ll be huevos rancheros with IPA, and the Bruery’s maple ale with bacon-wrapped dates, but we suggest kicking off with coffee porter and churros con chocolate. Decisions, decisions.
If the idea of molecular cocktailing in a massive antiques warehouse the size of a shipbuilding factory sounds like a good start, you’ll want to check out Cocktail Week in its entirety. If you’re going that route, there’s the Gold Ticket that’ll get you into every event and after-party all week. Advising restraint would be futile.
