This week, we’re stocking your closet with Seize sur Vingt shirts—woven in Italy—for half-off. We’re also giving you 42% off last-minute summer wines. Plus, you’re getting into all four days of bonfires, movies and Clint Eastwood at the Carmel Art & Film Festival. In case you’re feeling lucky...
Things to do for September 01, 2011
Burgers, Pool Parties and More Pool Parties
The weekend will be conducting business poolside.
Pincho Factory Thinks Outside the Bun
After rigorous lab testing, the burger scientists at Pincho Factory have decided to do away with the typical hamburger bun. Instead, the Toston Burger wraps your five-ounce patty inside a pair of twice-fried, flattened green plantains, and tops your burger with muenster and cilantro garlic sauce. You may never go back.
YouTube. It’s more than just Rebecca Black videos. Filmmakers created Life in a Day by culling from 80,000 YouTube submissions, from 192 countries, all shot on the same day. It debuts tonight—we’ll keep an eye out for your cameo.
Eating BBQ Poolside at the Mondrian
Days good for barbecue and poolside carousing: Labor Day. Also: all other days. Find both this weekend when Asia de Cuba grills up dishes like lechón asado (roast suckling pig) and Caribbean Spiced Chicken along with sides of corn and jicama slaw. Feel free to nap poolside, too.
Now that your penthouse waterslide is under construction, you’ll need a new rooftop pool party to fill your Sunday afternoons. That’s where this fourth-floor soiree at the Dream’s pool deck comes in handy. Live DJs, mojito pitchers and unobstructed views of South Beach abound. Bring your own floaties.
Drinking Beer in Your Speedo
And further north there’s Duffy’s poolside blowout on the Intracoastal. You’ll be privy to $5 cocktails and buckets of five beers for $15 along with live reggae bands. Arrive by boat and get free dockage. Or arrive by car... and park.
