We thought you needed a change of scenery... so we booked you a room and dinner for two at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Napa Valley. (Hope you don’t mind.) Then we saved you a seat for an epic feast in Manhattan, at Le Cirque’s LES pop-up restaurant. Get packing.
Things to do for August 11, 2011
Ping-Pong, French Toast and Movies on the Patio
That’s Mr. Weekend to you.
When a “summer” sale includes sweaters and jackets from Woolrich Woolen Mills, you know you’re in San Francisco. There’ll also be jeans and lightweight shirts from Tellason, Gitman Bros. and Gant—all at up to 60% off. Just in case you’re going somewhere else for the month.
Ping-Pong in the Secret Alley
Drop by this movie set and you’ll find yourself at an outdoor alley inside. You’ll also find some fierce ping-pong action, Berlin-style. Basically everyone walks around the table and hits the ball, until two people running frantically around the table turn into one. The reward: glory.
Bottle Cap Debuts Brunch
You’ve already made it here for lunch and dinner, so brunch was just a matter of time. That happens this weekend. Expect it to run the spectrum from the Hangtown fry (oysters, pork belly and eggs) to challah french toast. You’ve got some tough decisions.
Happy Hour at Cantina
You’ve been known to stop in after work for $7 pisco sours and other classic Latin cocktails for happy hour. But if you’re game for more, they’re also doing $6 shots of in-house Campo de Encanto pisco and $3 Cusqueña beers on Tuesdays starting at 9pm. In other words, no need to rush.
Badass Bitches Movie Night at Pizzaiolo
We’re not sure if pizza is a customary snack at the movies in Italy, but it’s becoming the case in Oakland. The guys at Pizzaiolo are screening Wednesday night movies on the patio. This month’s theme is badass bitches, with Hong Kong’s cult Naked Killer next up. Customary snacks are the least of your concerns.
