Things to do for July 28, 2011
Fried Chicken, Peru and Theophilus London
The weekend is a lover and a fighter.
Today: Peruvian Independence Day. Which means it’s your diplomatic duty to drink pisco sours, eat ceviche and dance to Afro-Peruvian music. Good thing you’ll find all of the above at Cevichery’s opening party tonight. Bonus points for wearing red and white.
A Free Concert at the W
After you’ve had your fill of Peruvian goods, head over to the W South Beach, where they’ll be celebrating their second anniversary. Their gift to you: an outdoor performance by Theophilus London, a rapper/singer and DJ. You prefer your entertainers be multitaskers.
Gratis Bacon Dates at Cafeina
So Cafeina has a new chef, serving up new tapas like Truffle Beef Carpaccio and Ahi Tuna Cakes. This weekend, email your reservation with UrbanDaddy in the subject line, and your first order of stuffed dates (made with Kobe beef, chorizo and mozzarella, then wrapped in bacon) is on the house. You’re welcome.
This weekend, the Stage will become a mecca of all things soul. You can catch six different bands performing gospel and rhythm and blues, while Michael Schwartz’s food cart will be on location serving up fried chicken and Junk-in-the-Trunk Brownies. No word yet on Baby’s Got Baby-Back Ribs.
Your Miami Spice Game Plan
Come Monday, Miami Spice returns. You know the drill: three-course lunches and dinner specials. We’ll save you the time of wading through the menus and share our picks: Bourbon Steak (Wagyu NY Strip), Red (petite filet) and Scarpetta, for the life-changing spaghetti. Which is only a mild exaggeration.
