Summer’s here and you wouldn’t mind a little recreational dipping. Perks gets that, and we’ve got you covered... from waist to knee. With Onia’s classic line of swimsuits and board shorts—they’re trim, handsome and, for you, 30% off. Any more would be skinny dipping.
Things to do for June 16, 2011
Stogies for Dad, Endless Beer and Drinking with the Mayor
The weekend is pouring your dad a scotch.
Sangria and Lamb on the Beach
It’s Thursday. You’ve almost made it. To help you pass the finish line: the Ritz’s oceanfront patio, where you’ll commandeer a lounge chair, then sample four kinds of sangria at $8 a glass (including a star fruit version) and snack on $8 prawn cocktails and lamb shortbreads. Feel free to go barefoot.
Il Corso: up and running. The celebration: free wine, beer, vodka cocktails and platters of cured meat. It all goes down tonight when Coral Gables’ Mayor Jim Cason cuts the ribbon and officially kicks off the opening party. Blatant pandering, but you’ll allow it.
Your date: a sculptress from Wynwood. Your play: tomorrow night’s screening of L’Amour Fou, about fashion legend Yves Saint Laurent and his massive collection of gilded art and collectibles. It’s like Antiques Roadshow meets Vogue, aka catnip to that sculptress.
$1 Beers and Black Truffle Burgers
At this purple- and orange-swathed rock-and-roll bar, you’ll find towering burgers like the Wellington topped with black truffles, foie gras and roasted mushrooms. And this weekend only, beers like PBR and Brooklyn Brown Ale are $1 with each burger. It’s like a boozy version of supersizing.
Endless Beer and a Stogie for Dad
This Sunday you’ll be giving Dad the best present of all: a day with you. Runners-up on that list: a hand-rolled stogie and endless beer. He’ll get both at the National’s poolside brunch. And you, well, you’ll get brunch, too. And some well-deserved high fives.
