Things to do for June 09, 2011
Swimsuits, Truffles and the Heat
The weekend likes it when you snap its thong.
Philly Cheesesteak Crepes Downtown
What Brickell needs less of: roadside construction. What it needs more of: casual French spots like this, where you’ll go for daytime caffeine boosts and a dozen types of crepes, including some filled with smoked salmon or mixed berries. Just follow the aroma of butter and Nutella.
Oh, the Heat. It’s been... interesting. So tonight, you’ll need reinforcements for all that euphoria/rage. Luckily, the Forge has half off all beers during the game and $10 plates loaded with Pomegranate BBQ Lamb Ribs, smoked salmon croquettes and that lobster sammy. Try not to throw anything at their 42-inch TVs.
New Summer Truffles at Cecconi’s
Summer means a lot of things—quiet streets, barbecues... underwater chess. And when you’re dining at the Soho House, it also means earthy White Summer Truffle Pizza and bowl-lickingly good Ricotta Cavatelli with mushrooms and—you guessed it—summer truffles. They’re like winter truffles, but with tan lines.
You don’t need an excuse to park yourself at the Setai’s majestic courtyard to sip champagne while listening to internationally famous DJs. But it helps to have one: the release party for house music compilation Buddha Bar XIII with gratis cocktails during the first hour. Consider it a perk for punctuality.
Swimwear from a Corset Designer
We’ve noticed a pattern lately—not a week goes by that you’re not privy to a runway’s worth of swimsuited models strutting their stuff. This week’s model: on Saturday, you’ll witness the work of a corset and lingerie designer. You are a creature of habit, after all.
