It’s as simple as this: it’s summer, and you need something to wear... So we’re hooking you up with Orlebar Brown’s expertly tailored, swim-friendly shorts and alfresco-ready polos. Plus, we’ve come up with the greatest Father’s Day gift of all time: monogrammed cufflinks (that happen to be fully functional lighters).
Things to do for May 26, 2011
Wild Animals, Futbol and a Tequila Dinner
The weekend just strong-armed Monday.
We just looked into your future... it involves tequila. And you’ll find it at the Shed’s tequila dinner with dishes like grilled octopus salad and beer-marinated crab ceviche paired with tequila cocktails. Fair warning: you may be subjected to a quick predinner tequila lecture. Be strong.
It’s one thing to sample over 70 beers (Ommegang, Birra Moretti...) and listen to live music and DJs all night. We’re assuming it’s another to do it in front of a pride of pissed-off lions. Either way, Brew at the Zoo is this weekend. So you can find out there.
20 Screens of Futbol at Fadó
The World Cup: a fleeting wrinkle in time by now. But just when you thought your futbol detox was over, enter the UEFA Champions League finals. Head to Fadó this Saturday, where the Barcelona vs. Manchester United match will be streaming on all 20 flat-screens. This could get pint-y.
Wild animals and soccer aside, it wouldn’t be Memorial Day weekend without the requisite amount of poolside debauchery. Correction: rooftop poolside debauchery. The W Downtown is throwing a DJ- and cocktail-rich soiree for eight straight hours, and we think you should be there. You’re not above swimming in white pants.
This may come as a total shock to you, but Park Tavern is throwing a party this weekend. We know, weird. Expect a dizzying lineup of cover bands, $8 Southern BBQ plates and makeshift bars at every turn. Might want to start looking for a good Monday brunch spot.
