Dollar Oysters, Space Flights and a Gin Duel

The weekend needs no introduction.

Thursday
Café des Amis Happy Hour
HAPPY HOURING

Café des Amis Happy Hour

While the French may not be the biggest proponents of happy hour, we’re glad this brasserie on Union is forging ahead with a chef’s selection of $1 oysters paired with $2 Trumer or $5 pinot blanc and Moscow Mules. The language of happy hour is universal.

Mon-Fri, 3-6pm, Café des Amis, 2000 Union St (at Buchanan), 415-563-7700

Yuri’s Night at NightLife
INTO THE NIGHT

Yuri’s Night at NightLife

Luckily we’ve come a long way from when Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin squeezed into the cannonball-shaped space module and fired into orbit. But, especially in the times of Virgin Galactic, it only seems appropriate to raise a glass to old Yuri...

Friday
Tapas Bar at Masa’s
GOING TAPAS

Tapas Bar at Masa’s

Sometimes you want white tablecloths; other times you want the bar. The crew at Masa’s understands and is giving you tapas specialties like fried oysters, ham croquettes and Kobe beef short ribs at the bar on Fridays. If it’s a white tablecloth night, you’re covered there too.

Fridays, 5:30-9:30pm, Masa’s, 648 Bush St (at Powell), 415-989-7154

Sunday
Skating into the Record Books
CHAIN GANG

Skating into the Record Books

You don’t have to own skates to help set the Guinness World Record for longest chain of roller skaters (you can rent), but you must hold on to another skater’s hips and skate as a group of at least 251 without breaking the chain for a distance of 400 meters—or 437.445 yards.

Apr 10, 10am, $10 ($5 rental), Skatin’ Place, 6th Ave and Kennedy Dr, register here

Monday
UK Gin Duel Finals at 15 Romolo
FINALIZING

UK Gin Duel Finals at 15 Romolo

After clinching a few wins abroad, two London bartenders will get behind the bar at 15 Romolo to mix their interpretations of an SF-themed gin cocktail and then a UK one, each in just under four minutes. You get to sample the entire time—making you the clear winner.

Apr 11, 7pm, 15 Romolo, 15 Romolo Pl (at Broadway), 415-398-1359
