Things to do for March 25, 2011
Suckling Pig, Candlelight Dinners and Your New Shirt
The weekend is grill shopping.
90% Off at Barneys Co-Op
Barneys Co-Op is closing shop at the Aventura Mall, but not without a fight. Or, actually, a sale—you can pick up spring-ready gear like Gant button-downs for $45 and Earnest Sewn jeans for $60. If only all goodbyes could be so sweet.
Suckling Pig in a New Garden
Good news: the weather is still amazing. Better news: Vino e Olio just unveiled their outdoor courtyard—ideal for long lunches and afternoon Negronis. Even better: a revamped menu with dishes like twice-cooked octopus, roasted suckling pig and veal sweetbreads. Nothing says lunch date like octopus.
Dining in the Dark at the Four Seasons
The Four Seasons is dimming the lights in celebration of Earth Hour... whatever that is. You and your date will feast on smoked prawns and tilefish in candlelight. At the end you get a soy candle to take home. If you could only think of some candlelit activities.
Open Bars and Planetariums Downtown
Skip the nightcap at dinner and swing by the after-party for the Museum of Science’s Galaxy Gala. There you’ll be greeted with open bars, a dessert buffet and a hotel ballroom outfitted to look like a planetarium show. Extra points for finding Orion’s Belt.
Consider this Sunday’s waterfront luau at the Kampong the gourmet food equivalent of speed dating. You’ll have your run of eight wineries and small plates from local outfits like 1500 Degrees, Hakkasan and Quattro. It’s table-hopping done right.
