Perks is bringing you an exclusive VIP invite to the PGA’s Northern Trust Open at the storied Riviera Country Club. (Swapping sand trap stories with Greg Norman: priceless.) Plus, we’re handing you the keys to five supercars—part of a US Supercar Tour—for 25% off. We call shotgun.
Things to do for February 10, 2011
Alligator Meat, Hot Coffee and Shots
The weekend is a lock for Best New Artist.
Bru Now Open
You’ve got nothing against coffee dives... but an upgrade never hurt anybody either. In the former home of Los Feliz coffeehouse Psychobabble, you’ll now find a shiny, modern café called Bru—with pastries from Susina Bakery and Ritual beans from San Francisco. Yes, they’re still caffeinated.
New Happy Hour at Tart
Next time you get a craving for some vodka and alligator (like this afternoon), drop into the rustic courtyard at Tart. Their extended new happy hour means $5 well drinks, $2.75 PBRs and $6 Popcorn Alligator. It’s like popcorn shrimp but... it’s alligator meat.
A Bouquet of Floral Jelly Shots
If you must get someone flowers for Valentine’s Day, they should probably come in the form of fancy Jell-O shots. Eighteen bucks at Bar Nineteen12 will get you half a dozen heart-shaped shots in flowery flavors like hibiscus, violet and, yes, rose. Nothing says romance like gelatinous booze.
Whether Valentine’s Day puts you in the mood for a movie where they don’t get together in the end (Once) or where they were already together but paid to have all relationship memories erased (Eternal Sunshine), the ArcLights around town have two nights of timely screenings for you. Also: popcorn.
All You Can Eat at Mas Malo
If Valentine’s Day brings out your appetite for meat and cheese (rather than your appetite for schmaltzy romance), you might want to hit this all-you-can-eat Mexican blowout at Mas Malo. Twenty dollars at the door gets you all the tacos, tortas and taquitos you can handle. Relationship status: irrelevant.
