Things to do for February 03, 2011
Model Massages, Truffle Pizza and New Burgers
The weekend is one long pregame.
Tonight is your chance to experience a revolutionary new development in Miami nightlife: getting a 10-minute neck and shoulder rubdown by a model at Vita. They’re called Angel Squads, and you’ll soon find them at Coco de Ville, Set and Wall as well. No bathrobe necessary.
Here’s the best setup for a food truck court we’ve seen yet. Fifteen trucks, including Jefe’s, Miso Hungry and Montaco, will congregate at the waterfront near the American Legion outpost off Biscayne every Thursday night. There’ll be wine and beer for purchase, plenty of grassy spots for a picnic and live bluegrass music.
Your truffle pizza intake: dangerously low. Here to correct the balance: this shiny new pizza bar in North Beach. The chef from the W South Beach is the man behind the pies, which are made with Homestead tomatoes and organic flour. Go for the Uptown with truffle carpaccio or the Brooklyn with fontina cheese and pepperoni.
Next time you find yourself on Washington Ave at 3am after an epic Saturday night, make your way to Vinyl & Kai’s new after-hours breakfast party. Liquor will be served until 5am (and again after 8am), and you’ll fill up on vanilla pancakes, omelets and a Kobe burger topped with bacon and a fried egg.
From the owner of DeVito South Beach comes this perky burger joint on Fort Lauderdale beach. The beef is hormone-free, the hand-cut fries are fried in peanut oil, and the frozen custards—called “concretes”—will be flavored with key lime. It’s sort of like Shake Shack, except over the Dade County line.
