Things to do for December 16, 2010
Stogies, Grilled-Cheese Burgers and a Flea Market
The weekend is wrapped in a bearskin rug.
Speaking of last-minute gifting, this gargantuan flea market (500 vendors) will be giving you the opportunity to buy everything from barbecue dry rubs to handmade jewelry to NBA jerseys. You’re thinking of a LeBron jersey for D-Wade this year.
Attention guys with sweet tooths and/or girlfriends: House of Frost is now open in the Grove and baking up cupcakes in interesting flavors like mimosa, mojito and champagne. Suggested beverage pairings: mimosas, mojitos and champagne.
Burgers: awesome. Grilled cheese: great. Hence, the Foreman, aka the grilled-cheese burger. One of a number of deluxe patty offerings at this newly opened burger spot. This place is so mouthwatering, you might want to bring some gauze.
Exchanging Books for Cocktails
Bring an unwrapped children’s book here on Sunday and you’ll be handed a glass of prosecco as you walk through the door. Then you’ll feast on fancy bruschetta (with butter, anchovies) and breadsticks (with salami). Which is a pretty good trade for Goodnight Moon.
Wednesdays are about doing whatever it takes to get over the hump. If that means pairing intriguing beef entrées with cigars hand-rolled right in front of your face, so be it. Think Beef Tenders in Paprika Spiced Red Sauce and stogies with notes of everything from cedar to leather. Take note, Cigar Aficionado.
