Things to do for September 09, 2010
Tequila Parties, the Beach and Burlesque Hula-Hooping
The weekend is kind of a funny story.
Burlesque Hula-Hooping at Coco
You didn’t plan on taking part in Friday’s national shopping conspiracy known as Fashion’s Night Out. And then Coco de Mer chimed in with a sex-shop party featuring a burlesque hula-hoop dancer. Plus, they’ve stocked up on gratis vodka, and if you mention UD, everything is 10% off.
An Art Show That Keeps Summer Alive
Sunny weather disappeared this week, but you can hold on to an endless summer at M+B, where Italian photog Massimo Vitali will debut giant photos of beaches and glittering pools overstuffed with festive Europeans. You’ll also be festive, because there’s free wine.
The ominous-sounding kitchen ladies known as Chicks with Knives have concocted a pickle party. Show up Sunday morning, and you can behold jars of pickled squash, pickled Asian pears and, of course, bacon jam. While you peruse, they’ll be passing you Pickle-Barrel Martinis. Your move, Vlasic.
Tequila Flights at La Sandia
To celebrate Mexican Independence Day (it’s September 16), La Sandia is rolling out 20 different tequila flights (that’s three tequilas per flight) for $10 each. They’re offered all week long, so you can fully explore the true meaning of independence.
...And More Tequila at El Carmen
Speaking of which, Third Street’s legendary El Carmen (home of 400 tequilas and counting) has a Mexican Independence Day blowout of its own in store. Expect mariachis to fill the small, dark, Mexican wrestler-festooned space from 9 to 11pm, and food and drink specials including $4 margaritas all night long.
