This week, Perks is bringing you cutting-edge designer ties from Motto and Crest, for half off. Hailing from across the pond, these ties are manufactured in the English tradition, combining classic menswear fabrics (like tweed) with dashes of more unconventional ones (like leather). Take note: a tweed-and-leather suit is still not a good idea.
Things to do for August 26, 2010
Playing with Fire, Pig Roasts and 350 Wines
The weekend will see you at the after-party.
Say Hello to McGowan’s Pub
The allure of the neighborhood pub is strong. So we figured you’d want to know about a brand-new one called McGowan’s Oakhurst Pub, with 20 beers on draft (Rogue Dead Guy, Allagash White...) and dishes like mussels in coconut curry sauce and duck confit on braised red cabbage. They have burgers too...
Any excuse to hit up a pig roast this weekend is a good one, especially when consuming said pig doesn’t involve the exchange of currency. This Saturday, Cypress Street Pint & Plate is hosting a gratis pig roast with a DJ, $3 vodka drinks and $4 Sweetwater drafts. Just in case you needed a few more excuses.
When the city’s best restaurants talk about getting together for a friendly weekend of one-upmanship, you’re listening. So it makes sense to head to Grant Park this weekend, where restaurants like Rathbun’s, Serpas, Market and Dogwood will be offering their menu’s finest along with wine and craft beer tastings. Score one for Team You.
So there’s this little benefit coming up called Jeffrey Fashion Cares (maybe you’ve heard of it). And, turns out, for the first time ever, the after-party is open to the general public (meaning others can actually join you this year). Head to Opera for DJs, fire dancers, aerialists and gratis cocktails all night. You prefer your bourbon tax-deductible anyway.
A New Wine Mecca on the Westside
There are plenty of great reasons to visit the Westside. Bacchanalia, Abattoir, lovely French girls opening new wine shops. In regards to the latter, Perrine’s Wine Shop opens this Monday, offering over 350 New and Old World wines, customized wine tastings and handwritten food-pairing recommendations by the owner/sommelier herself. Just add grocery list.
