This week, Perks is bringing you 40% off an exclusive three-course tasting menu at the Cape Cod Room, and taking you and three friends to meet none other than Joel McHale on the set of The Soup. Assuming all that comic genius can fit in one studio.
Things to do for June 24, 2010
500 Wines, $5 Martinis and a Motorcycle Party with Absinthe
The weekend does a body good.
If you're thinking this is a 400-or-more-wines kind of weekend, you're in extremely good luck: at tonight and tomorrow night's Florida Wine Challenge, you'll have the chance to sample 500 wines from countries as diverse as Italy, Argentina and Canada. We recommend allocating 25 seconds per wine.
As part of the Standard's new Sunset Service, drinks are two-for-one from 5 to 8pm every weeknight. (Which is a savings of about $11, per pair.) And from 6 to 10pm, $35 gets you three courses like Blackened Mahi Plancha, a glass of house wine and a red velvet cupcake for dessert. The eye candy is gratis.

IT'S JAZZ, BABY
Sammy Bangs His Drum at the MOCA
It's common knowledge: Sammy Figueroa plays a mean jazz conga. Not so common knowledge: he's assembled a crack team of Latin jazz heavyweights to play this weekend's free concert at the MOCA. They go by the name Latin Jazz Explosion. Sammy's words, not ours.
Mia, one of your favorite downtown mega-lounges, is throwing a one-night happy hour tomorrow, starting at a brisk 4pm and going to the wee hour of 9pm. (You love a five-hour happy hour.) There'll be $5 martinis, half-off well drinks, wine and beer, and live music from local troubadours Mayday.
You've always said: nothing goes together like motorcycles and absinthe. So tomorrow should be a very special night for you: Ducati will be christening their new Monster 796 bike by passing out unlimited Fenom absinthe cocktails at the bar. And per motorcycle-debut law, there will also be bikini models.
Anthony Bourdain has eaten lamb testicles, whale meat and a cobra's beating heart. But next week he'll take on his toughest challenge yet: reading to you from his new book, Medium Raw. Bring that sexy foodie you've been courting and get dinner on Lincoln Road afterward.
