Winter in New York is mostly not-great.
Actually, it's mostly just plain bad.
Except, well, here's Serra Alpina by Birreria—a twinkly, wintertime pop-up on the enclosed glass rooftop of Eataly NYC Flatiron, open (and taking reservations) for lunch and dinner now. With wagyu beef skewers, beer-battered aged cheese and the coziest damn happy hour in the city, it's putting a positive (read: utterly delicious) spin on what can occasionally feel like a miserable season.
You'll probably want to head over after work one day this week, provided you're in the mood for $10 amaro cocktails and fried brussel sprouts. (We presume you're in the mood.)
As you and some likeminded coworkers make your way towards the rustic tables, snow-dusted leaves and fur blankets, you may pick up on a real “Italian après-ski lounge” vibe. Said vibe will only be confirmed by the menu—in particular, the black truffle pasta and vin brulé, an Italian iteration of mulled wine steeped with an orange peel and spices. It’s known to warm even the coldest hearts.
As is the raclette cheese. They make it “alpine-style.” By which we mean: they melt half a wheel over an open fire before serving it to you with pickled vegetables and prosciutto cotto.
We totally understand if you never want to eat cheese another way, again.
