Things to do for November 13, 2008

The Weekender

Late-Night Pie and a Brunch Stimulus Package

The weekend blames it on the rain.

Thursday
Boqueria II in Soho
TAPAS

Boqueria II in Soho

The Flatiron favorite gets some much-needed extra capacity with this downtown sister location. We recommend settling in at the chef's bar where you can admire the kitchen at work and take in the new brunch menu, including Revuelto Pinoxco and Huevos y Bistec. (That's steak & eggs, for the uni-lingual.)

Now open, 171 Spring St (between Thompson and W. Broadway), 212-343-4255

Txikito
EVEN MORE TAPAS

Txikito

This new spot from the fine folks behind El Quinto Pino boasts the same small-scale pleasures as its predecessors, including small pours of wine, mini-beers (called Zuritos), ten seats at the bar and handheld Basque tapas like Txitxiki, a crispy chorizo-hash sandwich. As for pronouncing it...your guess is as good as ours.

Now open, 240 9th Ave (between 24th and 25th St), 212-242-4730

Bergdorf Goodman
WEEKEND SALE-ING

Bergdorf Goodman

Finally, an upside to the downturn. This Midtown institution is knocking menswear down 40 percent across the board for as long as the bad news lasts, so you can drown your sorrows in bowties and merino wool.
411: 754 5th Ave (at 58th St), 212-753-7300

Rogues Gallery

The good-natured Maine-based artisan-ruffians are knocking 60-90 percent off their stock of screened tees and puffer vests, among others. After all, these are rugged times.
411: 10am-7pm, Nov 18-20, 33 W. 26th St (between 6th Ave and Broadway)

Saturday
Pie Lounge
PIE

Pie Lounge

Late nights in the East Village just got a little homier with this tiny hole-in-the-wall dishing out beer, wine and, most importantly, peach and pumpkin pies (among others) until 2am on weekends, so you can finally have the drunken pie fight you've been dreaming of.

Soft-opening Nov 15, full opening Nov 21, 131 7th St (between Ave A and Ave B), 646-594-3180

Sunday
20-Cent Breakfast at Casa Havana
DIMES

20-Cent Breakfast at Casa Havana

You've probably never stopped by this Chelsea Cuban spot, but we're putting it on your radar just in case: two eggs, bacon and coffee for 20 cents. We recommend tipping at least a quarter.

Available every day, 7-11am, 190 8th Ave (between 19th and 20th St), 212-243-9421

Monday
Back Forty's Slow-Roasted Pig
PORKING

Back Forty's Slow-Roasted Pig

If your problem with the usual pork roast is all that sharing, help is on the way. The Americana-minded Back Forty is now offering up a whole pig stuffed with herbs, garlic and pears for you and eleven of your most swine-loving friends when you book a week in advance. That'll do, pig. That'll do.

Now available, 190 Ave B (between 11th and 12th St), 212-388-1990
