Cards, Cocktails and Extravagant Desserts

In a subterranean space that was once both a gambling school and speakeasy amid the Prohibition Era, you'll now find a dimly lit den with 16 seats before a six-course dessert tasting menu. From apple tintin with liquid nitrogen tonka ice cream to olive oil gelato with sea salt and eucalyptus, it's all ridiculously indulgent and notably good-looking. Visual proof of both claims right here.

Accepting reservations now, $68, The Dessert Bar at Patisserie Chanson, 20 West 23rd Street, lower level, 929-423-8880

They're Calling These the World's Most Comfortable Shoes. You'll See About That.

Allbirds, supposed maker of the world's most comfortable shoes, will open its first New York City outpost tomorrow. Grab a pair of super-fine merino wool knit sneakers. Consider lace colors inspired by our subway lines. Take a test run on the life-sized human hamster wheel. Ponder the symbolism.

Opening Sep 14, Allbirds, 68 Prince St (between Crosby and Lafayette), 888-963-8944

Munchies takes over part of Hester Street Fair this weekend, with an abundance of acclaimed Nordic mixologists, distillers and chefs attached. Expect eats from Claus Meyer (Agern, Great Nordic Food Hall) and Mikael Svensson (who has one of Norway's few Michelin stars), plus a cocktail lab, creamery and other things you'll probably like.

An All-Gold Boat Party to Close Out the Season

Ah, what a long, boat party-filled summer it's been. But before saying goodbye to drinking and dancing while sailing around the Hudson in good company, do exactly that, one more time. And do it here, since everybody will be dressed entirely in gold. Which sounds better than everybody doing it while not dressed entirely in gold.

One More Time for All Day I Dream

Lee Burridge returns to the outdoor, palm tree-laden electronic oasis that is the Brooklyn Mirage for one final all-day dance party, and he's bringing Lost Desert and Öona Dahl with him. Either those names inherently excite you, or you're going to have to trust us.
