Aerialist-Delivered Champagne in SoMa

None 6 Photos Emperor’s Drawing Room
Whiskey, a subterranean nightclub, a fleet of contortionists: Monarch has given you everything you’ve ever asked of it.

So now it’s time to ask for more.

And what you’ll get is Emperor’s Drawing Room, a secret bar with champagne-pouring aerialists inside the bi-level bar and nightclub you know and love as Monarch, now soft-open.

It’s like an erudite parlor of odd whiskeys in here, with a steel bar, velour sofas, leather-bound books... and cocktails you can’t get elsewhere in this place. Sit. Relax. Talk to an attractive person. Hear an attractive person talking. Have a Hanky Panky, with gin, sweet vermouth and fernet. It’s wedged into the old barbershop that used to be next door—a nice respite on the rare occasion you didn’t come to dance subterraneously or catch up with the aerialists and contortionists upstairs.

But if you find yourself here on a Saturday night—it’ll function as a sort of spillover space on the weekends, when you or somebody else hasn’t booked it for a party—things may not stay all that calm for long. Aerialists don’t like to be told where they can and can’t go. So some nights they’ll show up and fly around in here, pouring you champagne.

Some nerve.
