There Will Be Bloodhound

Your New SoMa Hunting Lodge

None
UrbanDaddy - BloodhoundChange is good.

So when we heard that the guys from Double Dutch and Ambassador took over Cassidy's Bar in SoMa, gutted it and turned it into a well-appointed clubhouse, we knew good times were ahead.

Welcome to Bloodhound, opening Thursday.

Forget the Irish-dive-bar vibe that was Cassidy's and think urban hunting lodge, with reclaimed barn siding on the walls, blackbird wallpaper on the ceiling and plush custom-made sectionals that you can sink into as you unwind with a well-turned martini.

Head to the bar where you can order the Bloodhound #2 with 209 Gin and vermouth, or try the bourbon-based Ward 8. And as with any bar worth its giant slab of wood, you'll find a changing list of local beers that are as obscure as Anchor Steam is ubiquitous.

If you're looking to add to your group as the night goes on (always an admirable goal), take your drinks to one of the three high-top communal tables made from salvaged redwood slabs, where you'll have plenty of space to expand as you please.

There's also an old-school jukebox loaded with Led Zep and Motley Crue—perfect for shooting a few games of pool.

It's definitely not your typical SoMa experience.

Which, after all, is the point.
