We have someone for you to meet.

She’s charming.

French.

Makes a mean grilled trout.

Oh, and you already know her sister...

Her name is Petit Crenn, a particularly bright, casual and elegant new French spot from team Atelier Crenn, who apparently have a real thing for seafood, now taking reservations for a Tuesday opening in Hayes Valley.

Yep. It’s Atelier Crenn’s easygoing, more boisterous younger sister. A place that’ll always welcome you for spontaneous champagne and oysters at the bar. But you’ll probably come for one of the two five-course seated dinners with a bivalve-loving date by your side.

Say, around 8:30pm. You’ll stride into a familiar space. “Yes, this did used to be Bar Jules,” a host confirms as he leads you under strings of pendant lights to a table in the nautical, all-white dining room. (Which looks like this.)

You’ll take your seats. Flick open a napkin. Up there, on the chalkboard: your nightly menu. Spoiler: you’re having fish. Always. It’s served family-style, so it kind of feels like you’re at an intimate dinner party.

And in the fall, they’ll have an all-day café with sweets and tartines to take to a park.

Or literally anywhere else.
