Raising the Baru
Street Art and Tequila Cocktails in Brickell

You like fine art. You like graffiti. You like nice restaurants.

Gee, if only someone put them all together...

Say hello to Baru Urbano, your new supper club with a splash of street art, opening tomorrow night in Mary Brickell Village.

Think of Baru as a restored Tuscan farmhouse crossed with the sort of artsy tavern you'd find in Caracas or Bogota. Walking into the slick space, you'll immediately notice the funky murals on the walls—a blend of graffiti and pop art, courtesy of a trio of Venezuelans with backgrounds in comics and street art.

We can see you coming here for a business lunch or a bohemian dinner date, settling down in one of the cream banquettes with octopus ceviche and a spicy Amante Picante, mixed up with tequila, cucumber, lemon, cilantro and, of course, Tabasco.

The owners have run South Beach clubs Macondo and Zoe, so you can expect plenty of top-notch DJs spinning from dinner (loungey) through post-dinner cocktails (raucous), all the way to closing time at 4am.

This is not a morning person's street-art-splashed supper club.
