Tom Hanks, an Indoor Campfire and a Battle Royale Where Everyone Wins

One flew over the weekend’s nest.

Thursday
UD - This Party Has an Indoor Campfire
INTO THE WOODS

This Party Has an Indoor Campfire

Tonight, you’re going to a campfire-themed dinner party at the Dawson. Rations will include five adult refreshments involving Death’s Door, one romanesco steak grilled on a campfire stove, barrel-smoked puff pastries and a smattering of crudo from an indoor ice-fishing shanty. “Indoor” being the operative word there.

Saturday
UD - The Randolph Street Market. It’s Back.
WARE ABOUTS

The Randolph Street Market. It’s Back.

For a moment there, spring seemed imminent. Then the stupid snow snowed all over it. But things are looking up. Exhibit A: the Randolph Street Market returns this weekend with its panoply of vintage wares, antiques and local food offerings. Exhibit B: snow melts. Stupid snow.

UD - A Very Tom Hanks–Forward Afternoon
TOMS AWAY

A Very Tom Hanks–Forward Afternoon

You almost forgot again, didn’t you. Saturday. It’s International Tom Hanks Day. Meaning there’s really an International Tom Hanks Day. And that Lincoln Hall is celebrating all afternoon with drink specials, autographed swag and a screening of some of his best movies. Don’t expect to see Cloud Atlas.

Sunday
UD - A New Brunch Takes to Lincoln Park
INN AND OUT

A New Brunch Takes to Lincoln Park

Here’s a quick questionnaire to determine whether or not you should try White Oak Tavern & Inn’s new brunch. 1) Do you like beermosas? 2) Do you enjoy fried-egg Cubans? 3) Are you partial to sourdough waffles? 4) Who will you vote for in the upcoming mayoral election? Whoops, wrong questionnaire.

Monday
UD - A Battle Royale Where Everybody Wins
YOU BE THE JUDGE

A Battle Royale Where Everybody Wins

The battle: West Loop Shakedown. The competitors: Prodigious bartenders from the Aviary, Nellcôte, Soho House and five other area drinkeries. The judges: Local drink critics and attendees (read: you) partial to wood-fired pizzas and each bartender’s original concoction. The winner: Does it really matter?
