There's a swanky new hotel in town.
Take one part mid-Century glam, throw in Boka Group food, plus a rooftop pool and you have the Viceroy.
You might have missed this glass and steel tower, tucked behind its brick-and-stone façade, but it's open now. Inside, a two-story entry welcomes you with gold panels and poetry verses to the new gem of the Gold Coast. It looks like this.
You probably won't mind that your room comes with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lake. And access to weekly yoga classes. And a perfectly sophisticated bathroom, or two, filled with Natura Bissé and ROIL products.
If the soak tub doesn't keep you behind closed doors, the room service menu will. It's provided by Somerset, the yacht club-like restaurant you noticed off the lobby. They do things like deliver aged-beef burgers while you pull a can of the house highball out of the minibar.
If you're looking for something a bit more composed, Devereaux should do nicely. Outside, there's a pool and a plant-covered lounge. Inside, there's a gilded bar with gold fixtures and sleek, grey furnishing. Here they pour Rose Collins and Classic Martinis alongside smoked beet tartare and yuzu-scented oysters.
More things you probably won't mind.
