HOG HEAVEN

Oysters: In Your Beer and in Your Mail

If you get to Napa tonight, raise a pint to the 21st Amendment brewers, who’re shucking oysters and tapping kegs of oyster stout at Oxbow. If you can’t make it, the Hog Island folks will have the oysters delivered to your doorstep for the holidays. Seems like a win-win.

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK

Partying and Shopping in Hayes Valley

The Hayes Valley block party. You know the drill: progressive shopping, cocktails, shots, beer and a small deal or two. Toss back local gin at Welcome Stranger, tequila at Nomads and beers at Steven Alan and Timbuk2, among others. Hey, you have to stay warm somehow.

Dec 7, 6-9pm, various locations on and around Hayes Street

Good Boots. Good Bourbon. Go.
BOOTLEGGING

Good Boots. Good Bourbon. Go.

Your winter essentials: tough-as-nails footwear and something boozy to keep you warm. Find both at the Brooklyn Circus, which is launching some exclusive new Red Wings and pouring Pappy Van Winkle to go with them. You’ll drink anything called Winkle.

Monday
Eating Chili with Larry Grant
THE BIG CHILI

Eating Chili with Larry Grant

Chef Charlie Palmer and the 49ers linebacker are hosting a charitable chili cook-off with contributions from former Giants shortstop Rich Aurilia, Ben Flajnik from The Bachelor and Kosta Browne vintner Dan Kosta. You’ll get chili samplings, tavern bites from Burritt Room and an open bar. Also: to swap Jeff Kent stories with Aurilia.

SALE-ING

A Really, Really Big Book Sale in SoMa

It’s getting to be gift-giving crunch time. But when in doubt, books are a safe bet. Conveniently, the publisher responsible for the likes of the Humphry Slocombe Ice Cream Book is practically giving away books at up to 80% off. We won’t tell...
