Twits
At Long Last, Twitter Gets Its Comeuppance

UrbanDaddy - Tweetingtoohard.comThese days, there seem to be just two reasons to start a website: one is to promote yourself. (See Tequila, Tila.)

The other is taking down the self-promoters. (See Hilton, Perez. Or actually: don't.)

And since Twitter has done such a good job for the former, it was only a matter of time before someone got around to creating a Twitter-specific version of the latter.

Presenting Tweetingtoohard.com, gleefully mocking tweets around the world, online now.

Think of it as a sort of Digg, but instead of voting up and down crazy awesome articles ("Hey, check out these Genius WTF Squirrels"), you vote for the most self-important tweets. This being Twitter, it's pretty much shooting ridiculous fish in a hilarious barrel (or something). Yesterday alone featured posts from "Babes McPhee" ("OMG i was saying how i couldn't afford the gas to fly daddy's jet to the riviera this summer, and this barista totally rolled her eyes at me"), and one John C. Mayer, who informed the world that "I love how some dudes hate me for dating their fantasy girl, as if they were going to if I hadn't." (Note to John: your Twitter is a wonderland.)

And like every other site on the World Wide Web, Tweetingtoohard.com invites you to participate—in this case, by submitting the over-the-top tweets of friends. Which is presumably how this illustrious post, from one Dave Morin and number three on the all-time list, came to light: "@garyvee I had the biggest lemonade stand on the block when I was 6. Was even expermienting with variable pricing and freemium models :)"

Which reminds us: never use the word "freemium."

Ever.
