Things to do for May 28, 2015

The Weekender

New Coffee, Gratis Barbecue and Twilight Zone Burlesque

Always look both ways before crossing the weekend.

Thursday
Sci-Fi Burlesque. Because Why Not.
IN THE ZONE

Sci-Fi Burlesque. Because Why Not.

There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man. One in which a troupe of sexy dancers channel their finest Rod Serling to perform something called sci-fi burlesque. This is the dimension of imagination. And it is in an area which we call... the Regent Cocktail Club.

Friday
A Tale of Two Java Joints
COFFEE TALK

A Tale of Two Java Joints

We’ve got two new houses of caffeinated pleasure today:

In the Gables: Crema is doling out freshly pressed juices and coffee in a wood-and-stone-lined spot.
In the Grove: Panther Coffee is finally open with a cold-brew-nightcap coffee system, an outdoor patio and croissants. Of course there are croissants.

Saturday
There’s an Art Heist. Starring: You.
TO CATCH A THIEF

There’s an Art Heist. Starring: You.

A lot can happen in 20 seconds. A lot. Take this Saturday, for instance. That’s how much time you’ll have to sprint over to one of 100 works at the Art Heist in Wynwood. Whoever gets to the piece first claims it as theirs. Sure, there’ll be vodka cocktails, but... focus.

Sunday
They’re Calling This a “BrunchBQ”
BRUNCH DRUNK LOVE

They’re Calling This a “BrunchBQ”

You like brunch. You like barbecue. So it stands to reason that you wouldn’t exactly hate a midday ’cue session with Coyo Taco and gratis rum cocktails from the Airstream Apothecary. Oh, and competitive patio gaming. Because really, is there any other kind?

Wednesday
Wednesday, You Swim Under a Full Moon
PITCH DARK

Wednesday, You Swim Under a Full Moon

You’ve probably been to a few Delano full-moon parties. Good times. But we’re willing to bet you’ve never actually gone in the pool. To toss around a few glow-in-the-dark beach balls and don body paint and floaties. Unless you have. Then, congrats.
