Downtown's Newest Cocktail Den

Newsflash: there are a lot of new buildings downtown.

And some days you look out at the sea of fresh skyscrapers and wonder if there's anything out there for you.

To which we answer: yes, yes there is.

Like The Bar at Tempo Miami, a sleek stunner of a drinking den, now open in the 67-floor Marquis.

First, you should know that the Tempo is a nimble little hotel taking up floors 3 through 14 in the otherwise residential building. And right now the hotel is in soft-open mode until the place is fully open this summer with a spa, restaurant and pool deck. But we thought you'd want to know about the third-floor watering hole immediately, seeing as how it's open and serving $4 beers and strong cocktails from a futuristic-looking space with 30-foot windows framing views of the bay.

It's across the street from the AA Arena and a block from the Arsht Center, which makes it a handsome spot for pregame drinks or post-symphony nightcaps. The place is also refreshingly quiet and under-the-radar, so you'll be able to chat comfortably with your date/hoops buddy over drinks like a Blood Orange Margarita or a Kings Crown made with muddled lemons and Crown Royale.

Things will probably heat up soon, with plans to bring in DJs, weekly parties and the usual roster of models and socialites.

They always seem to follow your lead.
