Santa Monica’s Best Date Garden: Little Door #2

None 15 Photos The Little Door
Bad news for the Little Door.

There’s some serious new competition for courtyard dates, raise-a-glass dinners and all that memorable-evening kind of stuff.

The good news: it’s actually also The Little Door, the new Westside outpost of the famed Third Street restaurant—and they wouldn’t have built another one unless it would meet your strict beautiful-courtyard quota. It opens tonight on the Brentwood–Santa Monica line. (See the slideshow here.)

Lots of different ways to enjoy this one. Consider:

A two-top in the buzzing, beautiful courtyard, just past the wooden (non-little) door at the entrance. Great for a lamb-and-couscous date that’s not trying too hard. But... casually trying pretty hard.

Firelit Sancerre nights in that stand-alone cottage to your right. There’s the bar, a fireplace and fake sheepskins draped over the stools. Since someone’s always cold.

Nine friends and a few thoughtful birthday gifts at the majestic, dark-wood table in the corner. It’s the corollary to Third Street’s secluded Table #36.

The bright-yellow, Saint-Tropez-style Citron Room in back for more intimate dinners. Totally sweet-nothing-accessible.

The Burgundy Room. It’s the private cottage in the back for more-intimate dinners.

It’s kind of for big deals.
