A Lavish Boar Hunt in the Pyrenees

Some people visit France for the wine.

Not you.

Some people visit France to see the Eiffel Tower.

Not you.

Some people visit France to embark upon wild-boar-hunting trips in the Pyrenees with private villas, massages and rifle-toting guides.

And while we won’t point fingers, you should probably know about Totally Boaring, a bespoke boar-hunting guide service in southern France that clearly knows its way around a boar pun, taking reservations now. (See the slideshow here.)

Teddy Roosevelt would’ve loved this. The march into mountainous wilderness. The donning of berets. The stalking, sighting and bagging of prey—followed by a giant family-style meal with copious wine and pastis before returning to the villa. (Nine in 10 historians agree that TR loved pastis and villas.)

Everything here is taken care of. They’ll arrange the hunting permits, arm you with a 12-gauge and even provide a private photographer. And being in France and all, you can also arrange for wine tastings, truffle shopping or post-hunt massage sessions.

The après-hunt scene. Who knew.
