This may not be the most charitable thing to do if you’re trying to curry favor with Santa, but hey, maybe it’s too late for that anyway. Tonight, Thunder Burger is serving marinated Alaskan reindeer kebabs, with harissa-yogurt sauce. We hear they taste like... Blitzen.
You’ll probably need to buy wine and booze soon. So check out this place, Gallagher & Graham. They’ve got shelves made in West Virginia from steel pipe and oak. On them: local gin, vodka and whiskey, along with biodynamic wines and some cool bottles from far-flung places. Like Vermont.
If you’re going to road trip this weekend, might as well maximize it. Like stopping at Catoctin Creek distillery in Purcellville, then heading up the road to the new Belly Love Brewing. They’ve got a tasting room with oatmeal stout and helles lager, and a kitchen with Scotch eggs. It’s the greatest gift of all.
Maybe you’ve just been skating. Maybe you have a voyeuristic thing about skaters. Either way, you can now perch on Farmers Fishers Bakers’ Winter Kitchen (aka patio) overlooking the Georgetown ice rink. Sit near the fire. Order a hot toddy. A hot pretzel. Hot cookies. There, now you’re warm.
Another fine-dining spot out. Another BBQ place in. Through New Year, the chef behind Newton’s Table in Bethesda is adding BBQ items—whole racks of ribs, pulled-pork sandwiches—to the menu, in prep for a wholesale BBQ overhaul in January. Which means about a month until Bethesdans start complaining about the smoke.
