Federal City
Workwear, Minus the Lunch Box
Comebacks. Extra-inning heroics. And now, a Game 7.
Makes you proud to be an American.
Better start dressing like it.
So let us introduce you to
Federal, a new 14th Street shop of iconic American workwear, now open to
help you meet this weekend’s weather head on.
Now, you may or may not have been to Palace 5ive, the 14th Street skate and streetwear shop. It’s still
there, but they’ve turned half of it into
something akin to an old barn,
stuffed with denim and canvas. Also: toy trucks, a wolfskin rug (head on, of course) and coffee-table books
about muscle cars and Clint Eastwood. You know, the kind of stuff the Soviets couldn’t defeat.
Here, you’ll want to think in terms of layers. Like rugged, raw denim from Levi’s Made & Crafted and
carpenter pants from Dickies, and Minnesota-made work boots from Red Wing. Top them off with a waxed canvas
jacket and an earflap hunting cap from Filson (useful for framing houses—or just enjoying one last PBR on
a windy rooftop this year).
Should you need to bed down on the way home from that rooftop (hey, it happens), they’ve got all manner of
rucksacks from Herschel and Native American–style wool blankets from Pendleton in Oregon.
The dusty trail home can be unforgiving.
