Surprising things in Washington: a new steakhouse on K Street with a Latin flair.

It’s called Claudia’s Steakhouse, and it’s now soft-open at 15th and K.

Here’s how this place is different:

It feels a little like Miami in here. Witness the round white booths, white stone on the walls, shiny black tables and wallpaper made from glass crystals. In fact, witness them all in the slideshow. Adding to the South Florida vibe: the occasional live salsa musicians and the guitar signed by Marc Anthony.

It’s not all about the power tables. Take a seat at the 14-seat oyster bar and look into the open kitchen. Or at the four-sided bar and gaze into a giant faux fireplace. But if it’s a power table you must have, then table 91, with a view of the entire room, is the pick.

The steaks get dunked in booze. Like a ribeye marinated in Negra Modelo, or a flat iron steak marinated in tequila and chimichurri. There’s also caviar, 30-ounce pork chops, steak empanadas and Peruvian chicken.

So you’ll know where to take the Peruvian delegation.
