The Weekender

There’s a Shark BBQ This Weekend. FYI.

The weekend likes being atop the food chain.

M3. Now with Weekday Lunch.

Landing the perfect light-as-air workday lunch is a subtle art. Not one for subtlety, you’ll be happy to know you can forget about all that and just hit Somerville’s M3. Awaiting you there: Southern staples like frog legs, buttermilk fried chicken and duck-fat burgers. Napping in your office afterward: probable.

Mon-Fri, 11am-4pm, M3, 382 Highland Ave, Somerville, 617-718-6666, see the menu

Friday
Free Soup. And Seinfeld References.
CRAB BISQUE

Free Soup. And Seinfeld References.

The Soup Nazi: your favorite supporting character on Seinfeld (next to Newman, anyway). Good news: the actor who played him will be serving up completely free soup, black-and-white cookies and muffin tops on Friday from the Soup for Boston truck. Don’t even think of asking for extra bread.

Aug 3, Soup for Boston, noon-2pm in Harvard Square, 3-4pm in Dewey Square

A Carnaval-y Waterfront Dance Party
BRAZILIAN

A Carnaval-y Waterfront Dance Party

If that Rio-born paralegal you’ve been dating has been feeling a bit homesick, you can take her to this outdoor waterfront dance party at the ICA, celebrating a new Brazilian street art exhibit. Also present: a DJ, gratis white sangria and Brazilian street food. Excellent plan B: flying to Rio.

Aug 3, 5:45-9pm, $15 at door, The ICA, 100 Northern Ave, 617-478-3100

Saturday
An Almost-Wrong Shark BBQ. Almost.
KIND OF BLUE

An Almost-Wrong Shark BBQ. Almost.

Believe it: there’s an all-you-can-eat shark BBQ on Nahant Beach this Saturday, when a giant blue shark will be roasted to perfection in a custom, 12-foot-long, hickory-wood-stocked smoker, along with more standard BBQ essentials (corn on the cob, burgers, live music). Relax, it’s all legal. We think.

Aug 4, noon-9pm, $50 for food, cash bars, Nahant Beach Life Saving Station, 96 Nahant Rd, Nahant, tickets here

Soaking Up Indie Films on Cape Cod
INTO THE WOODS

Soaking Up Indie Films on Cape Cod

Woods Hole. Quaint coastal Cape Cod-ness at its best. Also: the location of the aptly named Woods Hole Film Festival. Saturday is your last day to check out the remaining 30-plus shorts, documentaries and screenwriting chats by filmmakers from around the world. Expect a few awkward berets.
